CLC are hosting more workshops

The 12th February 2012 - “What is the Psychological impact of domestic abuse on victims” and “How do we understand perpetrators of abuse?”

This workshop will examine in depth the effects of the following:

Physical Abuse,
Sexual Abuse,
Financial Abuse,
Harassment,
Stalking

Working with each topic we will begin to explore the effects on victims, and how we can better understand and empower individuals to be safe.

Workshop is held in Balham Community Centre, 11.30 – 4.30. Workshop fee: £40

On Saturday 3rd March – “Using Family constellations to gain helpful insight towards a resolution of problematic relationships “

This workshop offers new ways to resolve personal issues which may be troubling young people and preventing them to have positive relationships with the opposite gender, in their family, with their peers or with professionals who are dealing with them.

Working from a systemic perspective and using systemic constellations we will, in a practical way, explore relationships, problematic situations and blockages with the aim of understanding a deeper truth and finding some resolution.

This workshop is at the CVA centre, London Road, West Croydon from 10am – 4.30pm

The Cassandra Learning Centre Charity Fundraiser

We are delighted to invite you to our Fundraising event to mark the 10th Anniversary of the charitiy’s namesake, Cassandra McDermott. She would have been 30 this November so we thought it only fitting to pay tribute.

The evening will be held at the Mayfair Hotel in London from 7pm onwards – please see the attached invitation for further details. The ticket price is £15 if booked in advance, £30 on the night.

The evening will begin with a drinks reception and canapés, followed by a raffle, an celebrity aution, live music and dancing. There will also be an award presentation.

We really hope you are able to join us for what promises to be a fantastic evening and to help raise money for this fantastic cause.

Cassandra McDermott’s 10th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service

The year 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Cassandra Mcdremott and CLC are planning a series of events in her memory.

The 19th November would have been Cassandra’s 30th birthday and we will celebrate by thanking the officers who worked tirelessly to bring justice to our case.

On 20th November 2011 a memorial Service will be held to mark this. All are welcome.

Half Marathon sponsorship for Simone harvey

Teenage Domestic Violence – no one did anything to stop it

Teenage girls are the group most at risk of domestic violence, and many may be falling through the support net.

Ask a group of teenage girls how many terms of abuse are directed at them in school on a regular basis and they struggle to answer. Every week, they say, boys and young men in their peer group add a new phrase to their lexicon of disrespect.

White Ribbon Day

CLC are marking White Ribbon Day (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) by hosting a parliamentary event to raise awareness of their work.
The White Ribbon Campaign (WRC) is the UK branch of the global campaign to ensure men take more responsibility for reducing the level of violence against woman.
